THE 2011 SENIORS TOUR!
This season had its share of "adjustments". EHV shut us down for a couple of months early in the year, but thanks to the commitment, responsiblity, and care of all cutters our shows started back up mid-summer and we managed to carry on.
The "Seniors Tour" had another fun year, with Ken Zender having sucess showing his good Highbrow Cat mare, Cats Angel. Ken and Angel were the Superstakes Open To The World Non-pro Derby Champions this year. Ken also continued to show Gypsy Red Light, Lectric Brakes, and My Own Poppy this year and will most definatly be heading to Ogden next spring in a few classes.
Max Gartner and his new mare, ShezaLittleWildThing (aka "Molly") hit it off well, and qualified to go back to Ogden again next year. We are sure Max is counting down the days already to go back to Ogden, he pulled off a top ten buckle in the $2000 Limit this year down there.
John Demoissac continued to show Puttin On The Pink this year, and did get some time off from his busy schedule ( a new barn and arena going up made this summer challenging for John) to show his four year old mare, Lenas Cat Fusion at one of the aged events this fall.
Brad Tkacik and Justa Indian Maiden had a super year as well. They have a few awards coming thier way in the $15,000 Amateur, and the $35,000 Non-Pro. Well done! Brad also showed his home-raised daughter of Mudd Slinging Kat, at the Canadian Supreme. The mare, My Own Muddy Cat, was a money earner at the Silver Slate Futurity in September making both Brad and stallion owner, Bobby Niwa, very happy.
Wayne Sharp and "Tomas" continued to show their winning ways this year as well. Wayne is headed off to warmer country soon, and hopefully will be able to join us back in Ogden in April.
Gary Simmons and his new gelding Trinity had some good runs this year. We expect his winter time in Arizona will give him more time to ride and show and expect a good year for this team in 2012.
New to the Seniors Tour this year was Val Davis and her good little mare SDP Sweetie Pie. She claims it isn't easy being the only "woman" in the tour, but we did see her having a few sips of wine over the course of the summer with the boys so she must have won them over!
As always, we just could not do any of this without Anna Petrova. Anna is absolutley tireless, and just continues to amaze us with her commitment to the horses and the clients.
We want to thank all our clients for their patronage this year. May 2012 be better than ever for all of you! Thanks also to our families, friends, fellow trainers, and competitors for making the sport of cutting such a great place to make a living!
We would also like to give a huge , huge thanks to all the tireless volunteers who put in countless hours to run the associations, and the shows. |
